Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many clients do we see in a month or a year?

A: In 2010, we provided pregnancy services and abstinence programs to over 8,000 women, men and teens.

Q: Who benefits from The Miami Valley Women's Center?

A: We help women who are facing an unplanned pregnancy by offering free pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds and options counseling. We educate and equip expectant moms and dads about childbirth, childcare and healthy parenting. We also provide material assistance in the form of baby items: ie. cribs, mattresses, car seats and clothes.

Q: How does the ultrasound machine impact a woman's decision?

A: Statistics show that when a woman sees (with an ultrasound) her developing baby's heart beat, suck its thumb, or wave, she is at least 65% more likely to choose life.  In 2010, 321 women (82%) served by the MVWC chose life after receiving options counseling and an ultrasound.

Q: How many ultrasounds does the MVWC do each month.

A: Currently, the MVWC is doing between 30 and 40 a month.

Q: Do you ever refer a client for abortion?

A: No, because we have seen the harmful affects on so many women who have had abortions in their past, we cannot recommend an abortion in any circumstance. First and foremost, life is a gift from God, and every unborn baby is created from conception in His image.

Q: What do you offer women who have had abortions?

A: The MVWC provides abortion recovery at all three of our centers using God's Holy Word to present the forgiveness and freedom that comes from Jesus Christ.

Q: Do many of your clients choose adoption?

A: We believe adoption is a wonderful option for a woman to consider after she has made the decision for life. We provide helpful written information and one-on-one support for  those who are interested in this unselfish and very loving choice.

Q: Do you have any preventative programs in the community?

A: Since 1991, The Miami Valley Women's Center and Dayton Christian Schools have partnered together to empower young people to choose to save sex for marriage.  Worth Waiting For, a peer abstinence team, presents a fun and teen friendly skit to middle and senior high school students across the Miami Valley.  Presentations, appropriate for assemblies and health classes, fit into a class period and are free.

Q: What about follow-up for these youth?

A: The MVWC offers two mentoring programs for middle school girls: GIFT (Giving Insight, Friendship and Truth) and STARS (Self-Respect, Truth, Accountability, Responsibility and Success).

Q: What makes you different from other similar non-profits?

A: Our founders and leadership have committed from its inception that the Miami Valley Women's Center would be an evangelical ministry, presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ freely to all we serve. In our Mission Statement, we proclaim God's love by encouraging a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the development of a daily Christian walk.
